DBS Checking
Spire Assist will carry out checks on an individual’s criminal record.
This is known as getting a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is crucial in ensuring the safeguarding of the service users. The DBS check allows Spire Assist to ensure the credibility of potential employees by checking criminal history for cautions, warnings, reprimands and convictions.
Spire Assist will carry out an enhanced DBS check which includes a complete criminal history check with the addition of a DBS Children’s Barred List or the DBS Adult First checks in order to prevent any individual working with children or vulnerable adults who shouldn’t.
A Enhanced DBS check is required for any role included in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, these include but are not limited to:
Roles working in close proximity with children and vulnerable adults
- Teachers
- Foster carers
- Carers
- NHS Professionals
While the above may be among the most common roles which require an Enhanced DBS check, any role which involves engaging or regular activity with children or vulnerable adults may result in Spire Assist carrying out an enhanced check to ensure personnel are not barred from working with children, adults or both.
